Qualifications

• Experience building production software across modern web tech and real-time systems.
• Proven ability to own features from problem understanding to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build production software across TS, Python, WebRTC, Kubernetes and GCP
• Develop and improve AI agent capabilities using LLMs, prompting, function calling, and knowledge retrieval
• Solve complex real-time engineering problems across voice, video, streaming, and low-latency APIs
• Improve system performance with a focus on reducing latency in AI inference, code and infra
• Work on voice activity detection, audio processing, transcription quality, and related areas
• Design knowledge systems enabling AI agents to understand complex software with fast responses
• Build and scale infrastructure to support enterprise customers with variable usage
• Collaborate with founders, product stakeholders and customers to shape technical solutions
• Take ownership across the engineering lifecycle, moving between product, platform, AI and infra as priorities evolve

With approximately 15 people across the company and a five person engineering team, this is still a genuine startup environment where engineers have significant influence over the product, technical direction and how the business solves customer problems.

The Role

This is a broad Software Engineer position for someone who wants considerably more ownership than simply delivering against predefined requirements. Engineers work across the full product lifecycle, from understanding customer problems and designing solutions through to building proofs of concept, iterating and delivering polished production software. You will operate across product engineering, AI, backend services, real time systems and infrastructure, with an environment spanning TypeScript, Python, Svelte, WebRTC, Kubernetes and GCP. The technical problems are complex, but just as importantly, this role requires someone who thinks deeply about the product, understands the customer and is comfortable helping determine what should be built rather than simply being told how to build it.

Responsibilities

• * Design and build production software across TypeScript, Python, WebRTC, Kubernetes and GCP
• * Develop and improve AI agent capabilities using LLMs, prompting, function calling, evaluation approaches and knowledge retrieval
• * Solve complex real time engineering problems across voice, video, streaming, audio processing and low latency APIs
• * Improve system performance with a strong focus on reducing latency across AI inference, application code and infrastructure
• * Work on areas including voice activity detection, turn taking, screen activity, transcription quality and audio processing
• * Design knowledge systems that allow AI agents to understand complex software products while maintaining fast response times
• * Build and scale infrastructure capable of supporting enterprise customers with variable usage requirements
• * Work directly with founders, product stakeholders and customers to shape technical solutions rather than simply delivering against fixed specifications
• * Take ownership across the engineering lifecycle, with the flexibility to move between product, platform, AI and infrastructure challenges as priorities evolve

Candidate Experience

• * Experience within a startup, scale up or similarly fluid software environment, with strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to operate across broad technical and product problems
• * Practical exposure to LLMs and AI applications in production, including prompting, function calling, evaluations, knowledge retrieval or agent based systems
• * Strong software engineering capability with relevant exposure to TypeScript, Python, WebRTC, Kubernetes and GCP, alongside experience or genuine interest in real time voice, video, streaming or low latency systems
