Job summary

We’re partnering with one of Australia’s largest bullion dealers. It’s a family-owned business that has been trading for 50 years, with showrooms across Queensland and Victoria and a busy online store.

Demand for gold and silver has taken off, and the business is investing in modernising its technology. Legacy apps are being refactored, services are being moved out of a .NET monolith, and the storefront is being rebuilt.

They’re looking for a mid-level or senior .NET engineer to join on a 6-month contract with possible extension.

The Role: What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and refactoring .NET services and APIs as the legacy monolith is broken up
• Designing HTTP APIs and background processing, including new apps that coordinate work between existing systems
• Proposing technical options, choosing the right one and explaining why
• Working with business stakeholders to understand how things actually work
• Picking up front-end work when needed (React, TypeScript, Node)
• Helping the team adopt good engineering habits and supporting a junior developer
• Backend: C# / .NET, Entity Framework
• Cloud: AWS, Docker
• Frontend: React, TypeScript, Node

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of .NET experience, with strong fundamentals: you understand what’s happening under the hood, not just how to use the framework
• Experience designing APIs and background processing
• SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL experience
• Comfortable owning your own scope: no one hands out tickets here
• Able to explain your technical decisions clearly
• AI tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot) are already part of how you work
• Happy to step outside your comfort zone, including into front-end code
• Nice to have: AWS, Entity Framework, Docker
