The position is 3 days per week on-site at our Croydon campus, with potential for more hours in the future. You will contribute to fieldwork, assessment, and departmental initiatives in a dynamic educational environment.

Qualifications

• Current NSW/NESA teaching qualifications and valid registration.
• Experience delivering Geography at stages 4-6 preferred.
• Ability to develop and refine syllabuses and resources.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum development: create and refine programs and scope for new syllabuses.
• Modelling best practice by teaching to demonstrate high-quality Geography lessons.
• Teacher mentoring: in-class support for new teachers and those outside their specialist area.
• Assessment: design and pilot marking for year cohorts and ensure moderation standards.
• Professional networking: liaise with Geography teacher networks and coordinate events.
• Fieldwork management: organize mandatory Geography fieldwork logistics and admin.

About the Role:

Due to significant growth in student enrolment in Social Science, PLC Sydney is seeking an exceptional, dynamic, and collaborative Social Sciences Teacher to join our high-performing team.

Working with enthusiastic and motivated staff and students, you will have the space to innovate while helping drive the profile of the Geography discipline. We provide a supportive, collegial environment where you can expand your practice and thrive alongside a passionate team.

The current role will be 3 days per week on-site, with the possibility of an increase in teaching allocation in the future if desired. Alternatively, the role may suit an experienced Geographer seeking reduced hours and greater flexibility.

Key Responsibilities & Capabilities:

• Curriculum Development: Creating and refining programs, resources, and scope and sequences for new NESA syllabuses.
• Modelling Best Practice: Teaching lessons to demonstrate best practice in Geography.
• Teacher Mentoring: In-class support for beginning teachers and those instructing outside their specialist area.
• Assessment: Lead assessment design and pilot marking for whole-year cohorts to ensure consistent moderation standards. Assist with marking.
• Professional Networking: Liaise with Geography Teacher Association networks, and implement external competitions and events to raise the profile of the subject area internally and externally.
• Fieldwork Management: Administrative and logistical organisation of mandatory Geography fieldwork.
• Collaboration: A collaborative mindset to work alongside an established, enthusiastic, and supportive Social Science team within a well-resourced department.

Selection Criteria:

• Formal teaching qualifications and current NESA registration.
• Proven track record of strong academic results and innovative pedagogical practices in Stages 4-6 Geography.
• High-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to foster an inclusive, high-performing classroom environment.

You will need to provide a Working With Children Check Clearance Number and date of birth.

You will be required to support the Christian ethos of the College.
