Job summary

Flinders University is seeking a Social Media Lead to own the University's flagship social channels across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube. You will shape content strategy, grow audience engagement and bring creative ideas to life with significant autonomy.

You will lead strategy, planning and day-to-day management, create engaging content, and partner with senior stakeholders to deliver impactful activities. Monitoring performance and insights will drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing high-profile social media channels autonomously.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong content creation skills with storytelling and multimedia capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and CapCut for platform optimisation.
  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, Media Studies or related discipline.

Responsibilities

Position Description

About the Role Join Flinders University as the Social Media Lead and take ownership of the University's flagship social media channels. Leading the University's presence across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube, you will have the opportunity to shape content strategy, grow audience engagement and bring creative ideas to life with significant autonomy. Working closely with stakeholders across the University, you will drive a dynamic social media presence that supports student recruitment, brand visibility and institutional reputation. As the Social Media Lead, you will also be responsible for:

  • Leading the strategy, planning and day-to-day management of the University's social media channels.
  • Creating engaging content across multiple platforms, including copy, video, photography and multimedia assets.
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders to deliver impactful activities aligned with University priorities.
  • Monitoring performance, identifying opportunities for innovation and using insights to continuously improve results.

About You

You are a creative and highly organised social media professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Confident working independently, you can build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and identify compelling stories that resonate with audiences. Your blend of strategic thinking, creativity and technical expertise enables you to deliver outstanding social media outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience managing high-profile social media channels, with the ability to work autonomously and drive engagement outcomes.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across a diverse range of teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong content creation capabilities, with an eye for compelling storytelling, emerging social trends and engaging visual content.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and CapCut, with experience creating and optimising content across a range of social media platforms.
  • The ideal candidate will also hold appropriate tertiary qualification in Communications, Media Studies, or a related discipline, and / or equivalent relevant experience.
