Job summary

McKinney's Jewellery in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, is seeking a hands-on Social Media Content Creator on a part-time basis. You will produce photography and short-form video content that showcases our jewellery, craftsmanship and boutique experiences across Instagram, Facebook and other channels.

Collaborating with Marketing and Design, you will shape visual storytelling, adapt trends to our refined brand, and help build a scalable library of assets.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in social media content creation, videography and photography.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating recent work.
• Proficiency in video editing software such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut.
• Photography editing with Lightroom and Photoshop.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Social Media Content Creator – Photography & Videography (Part-Time)

From our flagship boutique in Brisbane, we offer exceptional fine jewellery from internationally renowned designers alongside our own collections, with a strong focus on craftsmanship, beautiful gemstones and personalised client service.

We are seeking a creative and hands-on Social Media Content Creator – Photography & Videography to join our team on a part-time basis.

The role will primarily support McKinney’s Jewellers, with opportunities to create content for Margot McKinney depending on the creative brief.

The Role

Working closely with our Marketing and Design team, you will create engaging photography and short-form video content that brings our jewellery, people and experiences to life across social media and digital channels.

You will receive creative direction and guidance on brand positioning, content priorities and visual style, while being encouraged to contribute your own ideas and creative expertise.

We are looking for someone with a strong creative eye who understands current social media trends and can produce fresh, visually compelling content without compromising the quality and refinement expected of a fine jewellery house.

From polished jewellery close-ups and styled flat lays to entertaining Reels and spontaneous behind-the-scenes moments, you should be equally comfortable using professional camera equipment or a smartphone to achieve the desired result.

Key Responsibilities

Videography & Social Content

Film and edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, Stories and other digital platforms.

Create engaging content featuring jewellery details, styling, craftsmanship, new arrivals and boutique experiences.

Capture behind-the-scenes moments, events, interviews and product storytelling.

Edit videos with effective pacing, music, captions and transitions appropriate to each platform.

Identify opportunities to create multiple pieces of content from a single shoot.

Keep abreast of social media trends, formats and editing styles, adapting them appropriately to the brand.

Photography

Produce high-quality photography for social media and digital marketing, including jewellery flat lays, product details, jewellery worn on the body, lifestyle imagery and events.

Ensure jewellery is captured with attention to lighting, sharpness, composition and colour accuracy.

Edit and retouch images to maintain a polished, premium appearance.

McKinney’s retains specialist photographers for highly technical, ultra-high-resolution jewellery and campaign photography. This role focuses on photography and video for social media and digital content.

Translate agreed campaign briefs, product stories and marketing priorities into engaging visual content.

Contribute creative ideas for Reels, recurring content series and emerging social formats.

Collaborate with Marketing, Design and Sales team to plan and coordinate shoots.

Proactively identify content opportunities within the boutique and wider business.

Deliver platform-ready content and maintain an organised library of photography, video footage and completed assets.

This role will work collaboratively with the wider graphic design and marketing team, with a primary focus on visual content creation and production. While social media scheduling, caption writing and channel management will remain with the existing team, there will be opportunities to contribute creative ideas and storytelling concepts that support the overall brand direction.

About You

You are a creative, detail-oriented content creator who enjoys both filming and photography and knows how to make beautiful products engaging on social media.

Demonstrated experience in social media content creation, videography and photography, supported by a strong portfolio.

Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut or equivalent.

Photography editing skills using Lightroom, Photoshop or similar software.

Confidence using professional camera equipment and smartphones.

Strong understanding of lighting, composition, focus, colour and visual storytelling.

Knowledge of Instagram Reels, Stories, current social media formats and trends.

Ability to work efficiently, independently and collaboratively.

Excellent attention to detail, organisation and time management.

An appreciation for jewellery, luxury, fashion and contemporary visual culture.
