City of Boroondara is seeking a Social Inclusion Policy and Project Officer (Disability Access and Inclusion) on a part-time basis to help support disability access and inclusion in our community in Melbourne. The role is fixed-term from November 2026 to January 2028, with a salary of 104,790 to 114,015 AUD plus Superannuation, pro rata.

You will lead the implementation and evaluation of the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2024-28, engage with the Community Disability Advisory Committee,

Social Inclusion Policy & Project Officer (Disability Access and Inclusion)

• Play a key role insupporting disability access and inclusion in Boroondara.
• Part-time (25 hours per week) from November 2026 to January 2028.
• $ 104,790 - $114,015 Band 6 per annum (pro rata to be applied) plus Superannuation.

The Social Inclusion Policy & Project Officer(Disability Access and Inclusion) plays a key role in implementing, and evaluating policies and projects that support disability access and inclusion in Boroondara.

Please note this is a fixed-term opportunity, until January 2028.

A little bit about the role

The role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Overseeing the implementation of the Boroondara Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2024-28
• Convening the Boroondara Community Disability Advisory Committee
• Researching, developing and implementing effective community projects and programs to improve disability access and inclusion
• Representing Council externally regarding disability access and inclusion,
• Ensuring good communication between Council and relevant external groups and networks
• Coordinating the provision of information and advice to Council and community stakeholders.

You will also possess outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and be personable and approachable to a range of audiences. You will have the ability to contribute to a collaborative and cohesive culture.

You will also have strong project management skills, sound judgement and the ability to work in a political environment.

The successful incumbent will also have:

• knowledge of working with and understanding of issues for people with disability
• a commitment to quality outcomes and efficient work practices, and
• excellent time management and organisation skills.

Employment Requirements

• Tertiary qualificationin social sciences, community development or a relevant field.
• Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
• Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a validWorking with Children Check.
