You will play a key role in leading the development of robust technical platforms that meet ASIO's security and performance standards, ensuring systems remain resilient throughout their operational life and staying ahead of emerging wireless technologies.
Leadership is at the heart of this role. We are seeking a technical architect who understands that the best results come from supported, empowered teams. As a senior officer within ASIO, your objective is to be a "force multiplier" assisting to build a team of talented technologists. You will bridge the gap between high-level strategy and technical execution. You will work closely with the leadership team, providing clear, concise subject-matter advice to managers on emerging threats and opportunities.
ASIO looks for candidates who are curious, resilient and enjoy problem solving. To be successful in this role, you will understand wireless and telecommunications protocols, have the ability to remain focused on project delivery milestones and a demonstrated ability to develop junior staff.
A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies which have the same or similar requirements to this position. This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months.

The following qualifications are desirable, but are not required:
Formal qualifications or tertiary education in communications engineering and/or radio frequency related disciplines.

Employment is under the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979. Conditions of service are similar to those applying in the Australian Public Service. We recognise entitlements accrued under the Public Service Act 1999 and provide for continuation of superannuation under the Commonwealth schemes. Salary packaging arrangements are also available.
