  • The ability to ask good questions, understand business challenges and build credible customer relationships.
  • Experience progressing sales opportunities through to agreement.
  • Commercial awareness, including an understanding of revenue, gross margin and recurring services.
  • Initiative, resilience and a collaborative approach.
  • Curiosity, openness to coaching and a willingness to learn our services portfolio.
  • Cyber security experience is desirable. We also welcome candidates from technology vendors, resellers, systems integrators, managed service providers and technology consultancies.

Why join Excite Cyber?

You’ll have the opportunity to make a visible contribution to a growing Australian ASX-listed cyber security and technology services business.

Working closely with the CEO and specialist teams, you’ll build your consultative sales capability, contribute customer and market insights, and help shape how we develop new business.

About the Role: Cyber Security Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Project Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of complex cybersecurity initiatives and enterprise-wide risk-reduction projects.

This is a key delivery role focused on strengthening our security posture through the implementation of advanced security controls across DevSecOps pipelines, software supply chain security, and Identity and Access Management (IAM).

Working closely with technical specialists, infrastructure and application teams, senior leadership, and external delivery partners, you will drive critical security initiatives from initial scoping and business case development through to implementation, testing, and operational handover.

Key Responsibilities:

End-to-End Project Delivery

  • Lead the full project lifecycle for complex cybersecurity initiatives, from initial scoping, business case development and funding approval through to implementation, testing and operational handover.
  • Drive the integration of security tooling and controls into CI/CD pipelines and software development workflows.
  • Manage the delivery of Identity and Access Management (IAM) initiatives, including programs involving access controls and identity security.
  • Coordinate multiple workstreams, ensuring delivery milestones, dependencies and outcomes remain on track.

Governance, Risk and Compliance

  • Monitor project schedules, milestones, dependencies, risks and issues, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with enterprise governance requirements, security standards and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Maintain clear reporting on project progress, delivery risks and key decisions.

Stakeholder and Vendor Management

  • Build strong working relationships across cybersecurity, infrastructure, applications and leadership teams.
  • Bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives and delivery priorities.
  • Manage third-party vendors and delivery partners to ensure outcomes meet agreed scope, timelines and quality expectations.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Manage project budgets, financial forecasting, cost controls and resource allocation.
  • Support funding approvals and maintain financial oversight throughout the project lifecycle.

Agile Delivery and Reporting

  • Use Jira to manage backlogs, epics, sprint execution, tasks and delivery dependencies.
  • Maintain delivery transparency through effective project reporting, planning and governance.
  • Drive collaboration and accountability across cross-functional teams.

About You:

You are a highly organised and delivery-focused Senior Project Manager who can navigate complex technical environments, influence stakeholders at all levels, and translate cybersecurity requirements into successfully delivered business outcomes.

Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT or technology project management, including at least 6 years leading dedicated cybersecurity projects in a Senior Project Manager capacity.
  • Proven experience delivering complex, enterprise-scale cybersecurity initiatives from initiation through to operational handover.
  • Strong working knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM), including Single Sign-On (SSO), Privileged Access Management (PAM) and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
  • Understanding of CI/CD platforms and pipeline orchestration tools, such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
  • Broad knowledge of cybersecurity domains, including DevSecOps, software supply chain security, infrastructure and application security, cloud security, network security, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), and Zero Trust.
  • Familiarity with end-user computing, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD).
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, risks, dependencies, vendors and cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Experience using Jira to support project planning, backlog management, sprint execution and delivery reporting.
