Job summary

Synechron is seeking a Subject Matter Expert in Apache Airflow to design, scale, and maintain robust data pipelines across cloud environments. You will collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and platform teams to ensure reliable data flow and streamlined orchestration.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and operating data pipelines using Airflow.
• Strong Python and SQL skills for data engineering tasks.

• Hands-on with Snowflake, BigQuery or Redshift data warehouses.

Key Responsibilities: We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Apache Airflow with proven experience in building and scaling data platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data pipelines, ensuring reliability, scalability, and efficiency across our data ecosystem. This role requires a blend of hands-on engineering expertise and architectural vision.

• Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines using Apache Airflow.
• Architect and build scalable data platforms to support analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence needs.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and platform teams to ensure seamless data flow across systems.
• Implement best practices for workflow orchestration, scheduling, and monitoring.
• Drive automation and CI/CD integration for data workflows.
• Ensure platform reliability, performance, and security compliance.
• Provide SME-level guidance on Airflow usage, DAG design, and troubleshooting.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing across the team.
• Strong expertise in Apache Airflow (designing DAGs, operators, sensors, plugins).
• Proven experience in building and managing data platforms at scale.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data engineering tasks.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with data lake / warehouse technologies (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar).
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and workflow orchestration.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with streaming frameworks (Kafka, Spark Streaming, Flink).
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Exposure to data governance, lineage, and observability tools.
• Prior experience in mentoring teams or leading platform initiatives.
