Job summary

Synechron, a global digital consulting firm, is seeking a Data Engineer in Sydney to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions. You will transform raw data into reliable datasets to support BI, reporting, and data-driven decision making.

The role emphasizes Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow across AWS infrastructure, with end-to-end ownership of pipelines, data models, and quality checks.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt and Airflow in production environments.
• Strong Snowflake data warehousing experience.
• Experience on AWS infrastructure, ideally with infrastructure-as-code.
• Ability to architect, design and build scalable data solutions and pipelines.
• Experience in multi-tenant environments prioritizing reliability, performance and cost.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows.
• Build and optimize data solutions using Snowflake.
• Develop data ingestion processes from databases, APIs, files, and third-party systems.
• Create efficient data models, schemas, views, and transformation logic.
• Implement batch and real-time data processing solutions.
• Write optimized SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot performance, reliability, and data-quality issues.
• Implement data validation, reconciliation, governance, and quality checks.
• Optimize Snowflake queries, warehouses, storage, and compute costs.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders.
• Support reporting and analytics platforms by delivering trusted and well-documented datasets.

• Experience in complex, multi-tenant environments where reliability, performance and cost all matter.
• End-to-end ownership, from platform and infrastructure through to the pipelines itself.
• Strong engineering fundamentals: testing, CI/CD, observability, and a genuine sense of ownership.
• The ability to set patterns and standards others build on, and to lift the engineering around them.
