Job summary

John Holland on the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance project in Adelaide seeks an experienced Mechanical Plant Engineer for a hands-on, site-based role. Reporting to the Surface Plant Manager, you will provide engineering expertise across cranes, gantries, lifting frames and other specialised construction plant to support major project activities.

You will be involved across the plant lifecycle from selection and mobilisation through to operation, compliance and maintenance, working with

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline.
• Experience with cranes, gantries, lifting frames and mobile equipment.
• Knowledge of lifting operations, load charts and crane configurations.
• Site-based engineering experience on major infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of WHS, standards and risk management.
• Experience with plant inspections and maintenance.
• Familiarity with MEX or similar asset management systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support across cranes, gantries, lifting frames, and plant.
• Assist selection, mobilisation and deployment of plant to meet requirements.
• Review lift studies, load charts, crane configurations and capacities.
• Contribute to bridge erection, launching, heavy lifting activities.
• Assess temporary works, propping, access systems, and loading needs.
• Collaborate with site teams to resolve plant and lifting challenges.
• Support plant inspections, maintenance and compliance.
• Develop and review risk assessments and lifting plans.
• Maintain accurate plant records in project systems.
• Drive continuous improvement in plant safety and reliability.
