Worksforyou Australia is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead on-site delivery across multiple construction projects. This hands-on role focuses on safety, organisation and productive performance on site.

You will supervise trades, manage subcontractors and work with Project Managers to deliver projects on time, within budget and to quality standards. Strong leadership and communication are essential for team and stakeholder alignment.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade background or formal construction qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar site leadership role.

Job description

Site Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead on-site delivery across multiple construction projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in running a safe, organised and productive site.

The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Foremen, Safety & Quality Officers, subcontractors and construction workers to ensure every project is delivered in accordance with drawings, management plans, budget and quality requirements.

The opportunity

You will be responsible for the overall performance and successful delivery of assigned projects in a fast-paced commercial environment. You will supervise trades on site, implement quality and safety systems, manage subcontractors and help develop junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise trades on site and ensure work progresses in accordance with management plans, construction plans and drawings.
• Review and implement ITPs in conjunction with the site team and SQP.
• Review drawings, specifications and scope of works for all trade packages.
• Prepare programmes and ensure they are implemented and executed on site.
• Compile defect lists and follow up rectification works.
• Complete a daily site diary.
• Coordinate with other activities on site that may impact the works.
• Assist the Safety & Quality Officer and Project Manager to prepare the Project Risk Register, emergency and evacuation plan and Project Management Plan.
• Ensure the PMP and SQP are documented, approved, implemented and regularly reviewed.
• Review the project risk register monthly and as the program changes.
• Conduct briefings and toolbox talks on work requirements, safety and environmental issues.
• Ensure all workers are site inducted and that licences and competencies are recorded.
• Ensure statutory signage, traffic management, emergency procedures and first aid provisions are in place.
• Ensure amenities are adequate and compliant.
• Ensure site workers are supervised and work in accordance with their SWMS.
• Support hazard identification, reporting, spot audits and site safety inspections.
• Record and investigate incidents, injuries and dangerous occurrences.
• Manage non-conformance reports and ensure corrective actions are closed out.
• Ensure plant and equipment documentation is in place, electrical tools are tested and tagged, and hazardous materials are accompanied by SDS.
• Ensure PPE is provided and worn where required.
• Develop and review Job Risk Analysis for tasks.
• Supervise, train and mentor staff daily and identify training needs.
• Manage subcontractors and assist the Project Manager with financial management.
• Train and mentor junior staff to support career progression.

About you

You will be a strong, practical site leader who knows how to keep a project moving without compromising on safety or quality. You will be comfortable holding subcontractors to account and supporting your team to deliver.
You will ideally have:

• A relevant trade background or formal qualification in a construction-related discipline (advantageous).
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, ideally on residential development sites (desired but not essential).
• Experience with document management systems.
• Strong management, leadership and project management capabilities.
• Ability to manage the performance of external consultants and subcontractors.
• Ability to interpret and understand drawings.
• Strong IT skills and willingness to learn document control tools.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines with competing priorities.
• Excellent time management, organisation and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A reliable, accountable and professional approach.
