Job summary

Downer is seeking a Structural Site Engineer to join the Utilities Water team delivering projects for Logan Council. You will provide technical guidance to project engineers, help manage budgets, and support safe, practical outcomes on site.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will collaborate with construction managers, subcontractors and stakeholders to prioritise work, monitor progress and ensure compliance with client, environmental and regulatory requirements while focusing on Zero Harm.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of project engineering experience within the water industry.
• Experience managing subcontractors and supporting quality outcomes in project delivery.
• Demonstrated financial management and reporting capability, including budgeting.
• Clear and concise communication skills, sound computer skills and strong organisational/time management capability.
• A collaborative relationship-builder who can work effectively with internal teams, alliance partners and stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to Zero Harm and the ability to work well under pressure in a changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Engineers with technical advice, project performance reporting and practical solutions to issues impacting agreed targets.
• Attend initial planning visits and concept reviews, and participate in POAR processes to support value-for-money project delivery outcomes.
• Support design and constructability reviews, including fit-for-purpose and value engineering assessments.
• Help identify potential hazardous site activities and ensure appropriate procedures and controls are implemented.
• Support project budgeting, cost monitoring, forecasting, subcontract progress claims, variations and procurement activities.
• Ensure project works meet client, community, environmental and legislative expectations, and that lessons learnt are captured and shared.

The Opportunity

Downer's Energy & Utilities business has an opportunity for a Structural Site Engineer to join our Utilities Water team working with Logan Council. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role will provide technical expertise, guidance and advice to support the delivery of construction projects.
