Job summary

Bluefin Resources Pty is seeking an experienced Site Electrical Engineer for a major utility-scale Solar + BESS project in regional New South Wales. The role reports to the Project Manager and acts as the client representative on site, overseeing the EPC contractor and guiding construction through commissioning, energisation and handover.

The successful candidate will have direct utility-scale solar experience, strong site delivery exposure, and deep knowledge of electrical QA/QC, testing,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience with site-based project delivery.
• Minimum 3 years of direct utility-scale renewable energy experience, ideally across large-scale solar and BESS projects.
• Direct utility-scale solar farm experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of HV/MV/LV electrical systems, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, cabling, PV systems and BESS.

Responsibilities

• Oversee EPC contractor’s electrical construction and commissioning activities.
• Ensure all electrical works comply with Australian electrical standards, project specifications and applicable codes.
• Review ITPs, inspection records, test packs, NCRs, RFIs and quality documentation.
• Conduct site inspections and quality checks across electrical installations (PV systems, BESS, transformers, switchgear, cabling).
• Coordinate and support testing, commissioning and energisation activities.
• Witness functional, performance and commissioning tests as required.
• Support electrical system integration across PV, BESS and grid connection infrastructure.
• Review energisation plans, switching programs, isolation arrangements, LOTO and permit-to-work requirements.
• Identify defects and coordinate corrective actions with contractors.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

7+ years electrical engineering experience with site delivery

3+ years utility-scale renewable energy (solar/BESS) experience

Direct utility-scale solar farm experience

Strong knowledge of HV/MV/LV systems, transformers, switchgear, protection, cabling

Stakeholder management and problem solving

Experience supervising EPC contractors
