Job summary

DXC Technology Inc. is seeking a Simulator Technician to support the Royal Australian Navy's Combat System Simulators (CSSIM) at HMAS Watson and HMAS Stirling.

This highly specialised role sits at the intersection of Navy operations, maritime warfare, simulation and technology. You will be the trusted operational contact for CSSIM, ensuring simulators are available, effective and fit for purpose to support critical training outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Maritime Warfare environments or equivalent combine education/experience.
• Experience with application development and system integration.
• Hands-on problem solving with simulation environments.
• Familiarity with vendor/product selection processes.

Responsibilities

• Own CSSIM operational readiness across sites to ensure availability and reliability.
• Act as Maritime Warfare and CSSIM Subject Matter Expert for Navy, DXC teams and Defence stakeholders.
• Coordinate issues between Navy, DXC engineers and project teams to identify, escalate and resolve.
• Support design, testing and implementation of CSSIM upgrades and engineering changes.
• Develop, test and deliver simulation scenarios and training games for Navy use.
• Coordinate system groomings, configuration changes and integration activities to minimise training disruption.

Job Description: Simulator Technician

Role Purpose

Be the Maritime Warfare and Simulation Subject Matter Expert supporting the Royal Australian Navy’s Combat System Simulators (CSSIM) at HMAS Watson and HMAS Stirling. This is a highly specialised role at the intersection of Navy operations, maritime warfare, simulation and technology. You will be the trusted operational point of contact for CSSIM, ensuring the simulators are available, effective and fit for purpose to support critical Navy training outcomes. Working closely with Navy training authorities, maritime warfare specialists, simulation teams and DXC engineering, you will bring together real-world maritime warfare knowledge, hands‑on technical expertise and an understanding of synthetic training environments. You will help translate Navy's operational and training requirements into effective simulator capability, while identifying and resolving issues, supporting upgrades, developing scenarios and games, and continuously improving simulator performance. This is an opportunity to become a key technical and operational link between Navy and DXC, working on specialised Defence capability that directly supports the training and preparedness of Australia's maritime forces.

Key Responsibilities

• Own CSSIM operational readiness, ensuring Combat System Simulators are available, reliable and fit to support Navy training requirements across supported sites.
• Act as the key Maritime Warfare and CSSIM Subject Matter Expert, providing specialist advice to Navy, DXC engineering teams and Defence stakeholders.
• Partner with Navy training and maritime warfare authorities to assess simulator effectiveness and ensure CSSIM capability supports training objectives and outcomes.
• Coordinate operational and technical issues, acting as the initial point of contact between Navy, DXC engineers and project teams to identify, elevate and resolve issues.
• Support the design, testing and implementation of CSSIM upgrades and engineering changes, ensuring operational and training requirements are reflected in delivered solutions.
• Develop, test and deliver simulation scenarios and training games, and support Navy with training packages, debriefing and assessment criteria.
• Coordinate system grooms, configuration changes, upgrades and integration activities, working with Navy, DXC and third-party technical teams to minimise disruption to training.
• Contribute to performance assessments, site reporting and continuous improvement, identifying simulator capability issues and tracking their resolution through to completion.

Skills & Experience

• 5-10 years’ experience in Maritime Warfare environment [includes real-world, synthetic Minimum 5 years’ experience involved within the Maritime Synthetic Environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience in a particular technical specialty area.
• Experience working with techniques, tools, and approaches for application development and system integration.
• Experience working with techniques and approaches for selecting technical products and vendors.
• Highly desirable is strong practical problem-solving skills, with demonstrated hands‑on technical experience.
• Highly desirable is a Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or related field preferred or related experience that has been obtained via other career paths.

In order to be eligible for this position, candidates must have an active Australian Defence security clearance, or be eligible to obtain one at a minimum of NV1 level. Candidates must hold or be able to attain ITAR Classified clearance.
