Job summary

NextSense is seeking a Sign Bilingual Services Lead to drive Auslan Early Intervention across our sites. You will lead program development, mentor teams, and collaborate with education staff and external partners to advance Deaf community outcomes.

The role offers permanent full-time employment, 38 hours per week, with flexibility to work across NextSense locations and a strong focus on best practice and continuous improvement in services.

Qualifications

• Experience in implementation and delivery of research projects.
• Experience with quality improvement frameworks.
• Strong working knowledge in delivery of best practice Early Intervention.
• Understanding of Deaf culture and Deaf/Hard of Hearing communities.
• Familiarity with Auslan linguistics and grammar.
• Knowledge of the NDIS funding model and its impact on clients and service organisations.

Sign Bilingual Services Lead - Based at any NextSense location.

Make a real difference as a Sign Bilingual Services Lead,leading the development of Early Intervention Programs for NextSense Services.

This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity (38 hours per week) reporting directly to the Head of Early Intervention and Therapy Services and the role can be based at any NextSense location, providing flexibility to work across our sites.

You’ll make a difference in this role by:

Focusing on strengthening the provision of Auslan Early Intervention across NextSense. You will leverage the collective knowledge, experience, and expertise of team members and work as a team to:

• Collaborating with education teams.
• Building informal and formal stakeholder engagement.
• Modelling and explaining Deaf community and culturally-sensitive ways of working.
• Delivering internal staff mentoring and workshops.
• Identifying, developing and sharing specialised resources for use with clients.
• Direct service provision is also expected as part of this role in the short and long term

Focusing on Auslan development and a bilingual, bicultural, bimodal approach by:

• Strategically developing, enhancing, and expanding NextSense Early Intervention Services.
• Fostering connection between Sign Bilingual Early Intervention programs and Education Services.
• Collaborating to develop and implement innovative and evidence-based clinical protocols in line with Best Practice Service Delivery Quality Standards and continuous improvement frameworks.
• Documenting clinical protocols, professional development, programs, clinical opportunities and growth initiatives within Early Intervention.
• Contributing to the attraction and engagement of relevant stakeholders including Early Intervention clients and their families, referrers, and external service providers.
• Contributing to training for services to ensure best allocation of resources and best outcomes for clients.
• Contributing to integrated documentation and consistent review of best practices across services.
• Demonstrating leadership, adaptability and critical response in relation to internal and industry change.
• Operationalise Best Practice through planning and support in collaboration with other Services Leaders and other key stakeholders.
• Identifying opportunities to follow up on grant applications and government initiatives.
• Preparing reports and submissions for internal and external purposes.
• Maintaining professional certification requirements.
• Identifying and driving opportunities to enhance NextSense brand.
• Any other reasonable duties as requested by your manager.

About You:

• Experience in implementation and delivery of research projects

• A strong working knowledge of and expansive experience in the delivery of best practice Early Intervention.
• Demonstrated understanding of, and respect for, Deaf culture and Deaf/Hard of Hearing communities.
• Understanding of Auslan linguistics and grammar.
• A strong understanding of the NDIS funding model and its impact on clients and service organisations.
• Ability to navigate multiple competing priorities and external stakeholder expectations.
• You are obliged to become familiar with, and comply with child protection policies and legislation, as amended from time to time.
• Valid Working With Children Check and National Criminal Record Check (or willingness to obtain)
