Job summary

Pathfinders is seeking a Part Time SHS Support Worker based in Armidale, NSW to assist individuals to break the cycle of homelessness and support those at risk of homelessness to maintain safe and stable accommodation. The role requires knowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal communities and advocacy for Aboriginal young people and families.

This position is Level 4 and Pay Point 1 under the SCHADS Award, with benefits including EAP, salary packaging, health wellbeing hub access, and Fitness

• Ability to advocate for Aboriginal young people and their families with culturally appropriate support.

Job description

Pathfinders Pathfinders’ Out of Home Care Program provides a safe and nurturing environment for young people and who are in need of alternative accommodation due to being unable to live with their parents or foster carers.

We are currently looking for a Part Time SHS Support Worker to be based in Armidale.

Role of the SHS Support Worker

The Support Worker is responsible for assisting individuals to break the cycle of homelessness and supporting those at risk of homelessness to maintain long-term safe and stable accommodation. The role requires knowledge and understanding of the issues impacting Aboriginal communities, societies and cultures in NSW and includes advocating on behalf of Aboriginal young people and their families by providing culturally appropriate support and services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children, young people and families. The position also works to build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal agencies to support and strengthen families and cultural connections.

This position is Level 4 and Pay Point 1 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award (“the SCHADS Award”)
