Job summary

Laminex in Melbourne's South Melbourne showroom is seeking a part-time Showroom Consultant who guides customers through our product range with warmth and confidence. You’ll create memorable showroom experiences, assist with design choices, and support architects, designers, and homeowners on tailored solutions.

Qualifications

• Passion for beautiful contemporary spaces and helping customers bring design ideas to life.
• Prior showroom, colour consulting, or building product experience preferred.
• Willingness to obtain a Certificate/Diploma in Interior Design and continual learning.
• Well-presented, approachable, and customer-facing with proactive attitude.
• Strong communication and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Offer inspiration and practical advice for kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, and more.
• Create a relaxed, engaging experience that makes visitors confident in their choices.
• Listen to customer needs and help choose colours, finishes and styles.
• Reach out to architects and designers via phone and email to share updates.
• Answer technical questions for a range of Laminex products.
• Use CRM to maintain visit records and keep client information up to date.
• Keep the showroom inviting, presentable and stocked, and create mood boards.
• Manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Assist with trade and customer events in the showroom.
• Work with the Team Leader to develop your skills and training.

We're seeking passionate individuals who share our love for design and innovation to join us as a showroom consultant in a part-time role located in our South Melbourne showroom.

This role requires a customer-first and design mindset, and the confidence to take initiative when needed. This role is all about creating meaningful customer experiences - whether in person or through thoughtful follow-up—and helping people feel excited and informed about their projects.

The life of a Showroom Consultant

As a part-time Showroom Consultant, where no two days are the same, you’ll be the face of Laminex, helping customers bring their ideas to life by guiding them through our product range with warmth and confidence. Create an exceptional showroom experience by maintaining high standards, showcasing design expertise, working closely with architects, designers, trade, and homeowners to deliver tailored project solutions. Your day will include:

• Offering inspiration and practical advice for kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, and more.
• Creating a relaxed, engaging experience that makes every visitor feel confident in their choices.
• Listening to customer needs and helping them choose colours, finishes, and styles that suit their space.
• Reaching out to architects and designers via phone and email to share updates on our latest offerings.
• Answering technical questions for a range of our products
• Using our CRM system to maintain visit records and keep client information up to date.
• Keeping the showroom inviting and well-presented, creating mood boards, managing stock levels and asset management
• Managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
• Assisting with key trade and customer events held in the showroom
• Working closely with the Team Leader to develop your skill set and training as required.

Where your story begins

• Like us, you will have a passion for beautiful contemporary spaces and enjoy helping customers bring their design ideas to life, providing guidance and support as they explore the right solutions for their homes.
• You will ideally have prior showroom, colour consulting , or building product experience where you are confident in guiding customers through design choices with warmth and clarity.
• A Certificate or Diploma in Interior Design is preferred – or the willingness to obtain and continually learn with the team.
• Well-presented, approachable, and experienced in a customer-facing role.
• You will bring a positive attitude to every interaction and take a proactive approach to supporting customers and the team.
• You will have strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Be a team player and be willing and able to jump in and help on a range of tasks with the team. Some flexibility in hours may be required at times.
• Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM is preferred, and strong computer literacy is essential.

The role is part-time with a 3-week rotation (Week 1 Wednesday – Friday 10:00am to 3pm and Week 2 & 3 Thursday-Friday 10.00am to 3pm and Sat 9-4pm).
