Job summary

Southern Explosives Supplies, an Australian family-owned business, is seeking an experienced Shotfirer to join our team near Goulburn/Tarago. This hands-on role covers blast preparation through to completion, with a safety-focused approach and close collaboration with drillers and site personnel.

Roster includes four weeks Monday–Friday at home most nights, plus 2 weeks FIFO to WA and QLD, then 2 weeks off. A work vehicle is provided to support site operations.

Qualifications

• Relevant shotfiring experience in quarrying, mining, civil construction or a similar environment.
• Licence: NSW Blasting Explosives User Licence or equivalent interstate licence with NSW recognition.
• Security clearance for unsupervised access to explosives.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence and Australian working rights.
• Ability to follow blast plans and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, loading and firing blasts in accordance with blast plans, site requirements and approved procedures.
• Handling and accounting for explosives within applicable licensing and safety requirements.
• Completing pre-blast checks, maintaining safety controls and responding to changing site conditions.
• Working closely with drillers, blast crews and site personnel to coordinate activities.
• Completing accurate blast records and maintaining vehicles and equipment.

Southern Explosives Supplies is an Australian family-owned business providing drilling, blasting and technical services to the quarrying, mining and civil construction industries. Operating since 1980, the company brings extensive industry experience and practical expertise to projects across New South Wales.

We are seeking an experienced Shotfirer to join our established team based near Goulburn/Tarago.

Roster and Work Vehicle

Our roster is designed for lifestyle as follows:

• Work 4 weeks: Monday to Friday, home most nights, with weekends off.
• 2 Weeks FIFO - WA & QLD
• 2 Weeks rostered off.

A work vehicle is provided.

About the role

• Relevant shotfiring experience in quarrying, mining, civil construction or a similar environment.
• A current NSW Blasting Explosives User Licence appropriate to the work, or an equivalent interstate licence with eligibility to obtain NSW recognition.
• The required security clearance for unsupervised access to explosives.
• A current unrestricted driver’s licence and Australian working rights.
• The ability to follow blast plans, maintain accurate records and work reliably as part of a field team.
