Job summary

Andersen's of Denmark Ice Cream is seeking an experienced Shop Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of our Sydney ice cream retail store. You will manage staff, train the team, prepare rosters and supervise service levels to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in Business, Business Management, Retail Management or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of inventory control, stock ordering, sales monitoring and retail business procedures.
• Ability to supervise, train and motivate employees in a customer-focused environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing the overall daily operations of the ice cream store to ensure efficient service delivery and smooth business operations.
• Planning and coordinating staffing requirements, preparing rosters and supervising employees to maintain appropriate service levels.
• Recruiting, training and supervising retail staff, including monitoring performance and providing ongoing guidance.
• Monitoring sales performance, reviewing financial reports and implementing strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
• Managing stock levels, forecasting product requirements and coordinating orders for ice cream, ingredients, packaging and other retail supplies.
• Liaising with suppliers and distributors to ensure timely deliveries, product availability and cost-effective purchasing arrangements.
• Developing and implementing promotional activities, seasonal offers and merchandising strategies to attract customers and increase sales.
• Maintaining high standards of customer service, resolving customer concerns and implementing improvements to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Overseeing product presentation, store displays, cleanliness and overall store appearance in accordance with company standards.
• Monitoring operational expenses, stock wastage and inventory discrepancies to improve cost control and business efficiency.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety requirements, workplace health and safety procedures and relevant retail operating regulations.
• Establishing and maintaining store operating procedures, including cash handling, stock management, opening and closing activities.
• Reviewing customer feedback, sales trends and operational performance to identify opportunities for business improvement.
• Preparing regular operational, sales, inventory and staff performance reports for senior management.

Strong understanding of inventory control, stock ordering, sales monitoring and retail business procedures. Ability to supervise, train and motivate employees in a customer-focused environment. Good organisational, leadership and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple operational responsibilities in a fast-paced retail environment. Knowledge of food safety practices and retail compliance requirements will be highly regarded.

Previous experience in ice cream retail, food retail or hospitality-related store management will be advantageous.
