Job summary

Patrick Terminals is Australia's leading container terminal operator with sites across major ports. The Shift Manager will lead a team on the Fremantle Terminal, delivering safe, efficient stevedoring while driving continuous improvement and meeting performance targets.

You will liaise with vessel personnel, manage labour costs, and ensure SOP compliance, with a focus on safety and customer service on shift.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership in heavy industry (Maritime, Road Transport, Manufacturing, Mining or Defence).
• Strong stakeholder influence to align objectives across diverse groups.
• Proven track record in leading teams to deliver operational requirements safely.
• Experience with crane operations and shift planning is advantageous.

• Plan, organise and manage operations to deliver effective, safe stevedoring.

Shift Manager

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Manager at the Fremantle Terminal, the Shift Manager is responsible for leading the team to deliver operational requirements while maximising performance of the employees on a shift by shift basis. This role requires someone with excellent leadership skills and the ability to partner with site management to drive business performance.

Key responsibilities include:

Plan, organise and manage the operations to ensure stevedoring plan is effective, safe and timely.

Lead, motivate and direct employees to perform their functions in accordance with operational requirements and safety standards.

Liaise with vessel personnel and National Operations Centre regarding lashing and stow requirements

Deliver continuous operational improvements on a day to day, week to week basis to meet business performance targets.

Report and manage hazards and incidents associated with operational activities.

Monitor labour cost expenditure to operate within budget.

Ensure all employees on shift understand their responsibilities and any key business updates via tool box talks.

Ensure team compliance with company standard operating procedures.

Ensure an appropriate level of customer service focus is applied to all decisions made.

Drive a positive safety culture that aligns to the Patrick values.

About Your Experience and Skills

To be considered for this opportunity you should have the following:

Demonstrated leadership experience within a heavy industry such as Maritime, Road Transport, Manufacturing, Mining or Defence.

Strong stakeholder influencing skills to align common objectives across diverse work groups.

A successful track record in leading and developing teams to deliver operational requirements in a safe manner.

Knowledge of crane operations and effective shift planning preferable.

Experience in coaching and developing team members.

Working knowledge of vessel planning software, terminal operating systems and Microsoft office preferable.

Must be eligible to obtain an MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card).

Must be happy to work irregular shift patterns, including weekends, public holidays, and day, evening & night shifts
