Job summary

Macs Engineering in Mackay QLD is seeking an experienced Sheetmetal Worker for a permanent full-time role. The ideal candidate will weld with MIG/TIG, read detailed drawings, and fabricate sheetmetal components across varied materials, including steel, aluminium and polymers.

Responsibilities include cutting, weld prep, measuring, marking, assembly, duct fabrication where required, and ensuring WHS compliance.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years’ experience in steel/aluminium sheetmetal and/or duct fabrication.
• Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication) or equivalent.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Cutting material, weld prep, grinding.
• Measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets.
• Read and interpret drawings to fine specifications.
• Select types of sheetmetal according to building or design plans.
• Fabricate or alter parts at construction sites.
• Install metal sheets with supportive frameworks.
• Duct fabrication in some roles.
• Adhere to WHS standards.

Macs Engineering is currently looking to recruit an experienced and qualified Sheetmetal Worker to join their team in Mackay QLD. The successful applicant will need to possess and undertake:

• Have a willingness to work with strong attention to detail
• Be punctual and responsible
• Proficiency in both MIG and TIG welding
• Ability to read and interpret drawings to fine specifications
• Experience in handling a range of materials, including difficult materials
• Experience with materials such as steel, aluminium & polymer
• Cutting material, weld prep, grinding
• Adherence to WHS
• Select types of sheetmetal according to building or design plans
• Measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets
• Duct fabrication in some roles
• Install metal sheets with supportive frameworks
• Fabricate or alter parts at construction sites
• Manoeuvre and anchor large sheet metal parts

Skills & Attributes:

• At least 3 years’ experience in steel/aluminium sheetmetal and/or duct fabrication
• Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication) or equivalent
• Ability to work in a team environment

Salary range is $70,000-$85,000pa commensurate with experience. Fulltime Position available.
