Job summary

Merlin Entertainments, operating SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, seeks a casual Shark Dive Coordinator to lead introductory SCUBA sessions and oversee daily dive operations. You will deliver safety briefs, manage dive logistics, and uphold equipment cleanliness while ensuring exceptional guest experiences.

The role requires weekend and public holiday availability, with roster variations based on demand. Prior instructor credentials and Australian working rights are essential for this on-site position.

Qualifications

• Active Open Water Instructor status (SDI/SSI/PADI or equivalent).
• Current First Aid certificate.
• Current Oxygen provider certificate.
• Current AS.2299 Dive Medical (or willingness to complete).
• BSBWHS211 Contribute to health and safety of self and others or willingness to complete (ADAS online).
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with guests and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and conduct introductory SCUBA sessions for guests.
• Deliver safety briefings and in-water skill sessions ensuring guest, staff and animal safety.
• Maintain records for dive logs and medical declarations.
• Ensure cleanliness and hygiene of diving equipment and areas.
• Manage smooth transition of divers through the Shark Dive experience.
• Work regular weekends and public holidays as rostered.

What you'll bring to the team

We are looking for Shark Dive Coordinators to join our wonderful team at SEA LIFE Sydney on a Casual basis!

About the Role

We are seeking a casual shark dive coordinator to join the Shark Dive Xtreme team at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium. These roles are primarily responsible for coordinating and conducting introductory SCUBA sessions for our guests, as well as:

• Running daily operations, deliver consistently high-quality guest experiences.
• Ensuring adherence to all relevant dive industry and company standards.
• Delivering safety briefs, completing in-water skill sessions while ensuring the safety of guests, staff and animals.
• General administration, including completion of accurate and up to date records for dive logs and customer medical declaration forms.
• Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and hygiene of all diving equipment and associated areas.
• Managing the efficient and seamless transition of divers through the Shark Dive experience.

The role requires ability to work regular weekends and public holidays; please also note that the roster may vary depending on operational requirements and seasonal demands.

About You

A passion for working in the tourism/attraction industry is essential to any of our roles. To shine in this position, you will also have:

• Experience conducting both open water courses and introductory dives, and as a minimum hold an Active Open Water Instructor status (SDI/SSI/PADI or equivalent).
• Current First Aid certificate
• Current Oxygen provider certificate
• Current AS.2299 Dive Medical (or willingness to complete).
• BSBWHS211 Contribute to health and safety of self and others (BSBWHS201 for some RTO providers) or willingness to complete at own expense. This is an online module that can be completed through Australian Diver Accreditation Scheme (ADAS).
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with guests and colleagues.
• Ability to multi-task and have a flexible and adaptable approach along with the ability to meet deadlines and have demonstrated planning, organisational and time management skills.
• Valid Australian working rights
