Job summary

Specialised Engineering Technologies (SET) is a Newcastle-based engineering and construction company delivering infrastructure for mining, data centres and critical facilities. We're growing our major projects team and need an experienced services and commissioning leader.

Hunter-based work, with no FIFO or long-distance commute. A key role on a landmark project with a small, growing team and direct access to leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is essential.
• Experience as a building services or commissioning manager with a head contractor, commissioning agent or client.
• Technical knowledge of generators, transformers, UPS and LV distribution.
• Data centre commissioning experience beneficial.
• Chartered status (CPEng/NER) highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Review MEP and other services designs for compliance with client requirements and commissionability.
• Review and approve the head contractor's commissioning plans, test scripts and programme.
• Witness and verify FAT, SAT and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Oversee commissioning of LV switchboards, generators, transformers, UPS and cooling systems.
• Act as the client's technical decision-maker to resolve commissioning issues.
• Ensure handover deliverables are complete, including MOPs, O&M manuals and operator training.
• Report commissioning progress, risks and readiness to senior project stakeholders.

Services & Commissioning Manager - Major Projects

Working on behalf of the client, you'll oversee the delivery, commissioning and handover of critical building services downstream of the kiosk transformers. You'll work closely with the head contractor, suppliers, commissioning agents and the client's operations team.

Key responsibilities

Review MEP and other services designs for compliance with client requirements and commissionability.

Review and approve the head contractor's commissioning plans, test scripts and programme.

Witness and verify FAT, SAT and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).

Oversee commissioning of LV switchboards, generators, transformers, UPS and cooling systems.

Act as the client's technical decision-maker to resolve commissioning issues.

About you

A Bachelor of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or similar (essential).

Experience as a building services or commissioning manager with a head contractor, commissioning agent or client (essential).

Technical knowledge of generators, transformers, UPS and LV distribution (essential).

Cooling and mechanical services experience (highly regarded).

Data centre commissioning experience, including IST and live operational environments (highly regarded).

Industrial, mining or critical infrastructure experience (essential).

Chartered status (CPEng / NER) highly regarded.

A White Card and a current driver's licence.
