Job summary

SME Powered Services is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Commissioning professional to drive testing, energisation and handover on major Victoria projects. You will coordinate electricians, technicians and subcontractors, ensuring safety and adherence to project requirements.

You will bridge construction and operations, guiding teams through final project delivery and client acceptance on large-scale infrastructure and data centre initiatives.

Qualifications

• Current Victorian A Grade Electrical Licence.
• White Card and current Driver's Licence.
• Proven commissioning experience within electrical, industrial, infrastructure, commercial or data centre environments.
• Experience leading electrical trades and subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of electrical testing, commissioning, energisation and isolation processes.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics and specifications.
• Strong understanding of Australian Standards and electrical safety requirements.
• First Aid, CPR and Low Voltage Rescue.
• High Risk Work Licences.
• Experience with protection systems, controls, communications or specialised commissioning activities.
• Previous experience on large-scale infrastructure or complex electrical projects.

• Coordinate system walkdowns, witness testing and functional performance testing.
• Ensure commissioning activities are executed in line with approved procedures, specifications and project requirements.
• Support staged handovers and final project close-out activities.
• Provide leadership and technical guidance to commissioning electricians, technicians and subcontractors.
• Coordinate daily activities, priorities and work fronts.
• Monitor progress against commissioning programs and project milestones.
• Escalate technical issues, resource constraints and program risks as required.
• Champion a strong safety culture across all commissioning activities.
• Ensure compliance with permits, isolations, risk assessments and project procedures.
• Conduct pre-starts, toolbox talks and verification checks.
• Maintain strict controls around energisation boundaries and electrical safety requirements.
• Identify and manage defects, non-conformances and incomplete works.
• Review commissioning documentation, test sheets and inspection records.
• Assist with preparing handover packs, as-built information and client approval documentation.
• Support successful project sign-off and client acceptance.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, you will lead day-to-day commissioning activities across assigned systems and project areas. You will coordinate electricians, technicians and subcontractors, ensuring testing, verification, energisation and handover activities are completed safely and in accordance with project requirements.

You will be a critical link between construction and operations, helping drive projects through the final stages of delivery and into successful client handover.
