Job summary

Randstad are seeking a service technician located in Keysborough, Melbourne. You will develop and maintain production work instructions, qualifying special processes like painting, crimping and torquing to standards.

Collaborate with production, engineering, quality and safety to ensure practical, safe, and compliant instructions; perform time studies and support new product introductions and audits.

Qualifications

• Mechanically minded and practically focused.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally rail, rolling stock, heavy industrial, or regulated sectors.
• Knowledge of special processes qualification (painting, crimping, torquing) and related standards.
• Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
• National Police Check is required.
• Drug and alcohol checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, and maintain clear work instructions for production teams across all manufacturing processes.
• Own qualification and documentation of special processes (painting, crimping, torquing) to standards.
• Collaborate with production supervisors, engineering, quality, and safety to ensure practicality and compliance of instructions.
• Conduct time studies and process analysis to identify efficiency gains and standardise best practices.
• Assist with new product introductions by translating drawings into production instructions.
• Maintain a controlled review and revision process for instructions with version control and traceability.
• Support root cause investigations with quality when process deviations occur.

Job description

Randstad are looking for a service technician to be located in Keysborough.

Pay is over $55 per hour! Casual ongoing role for 3 months but potential for extension due to performance and business demand.

Shift time:
6am - 2:30pm Monday - Thursday
6am - 12pm Friday

The role

• Develop, write, and maintain clear and accurate work instructions for production teams across all manufacturing processes.
• Own qualification and documentation of special processes, specifically painting, crimping, and torquing ensuring each process is controlled to relevant Wabtec, customer, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with production supervisors, engineering, quality, and health and safety functions to validate that work instructions are practical, safe, and compliant before release.
• Conduct time studies and process analysis to identify efficiency improvements and standardise best practice across the shop floor.
• Support new product introduction by translating engineering drawings and specifications into production-ready work instructions.
• Maintain a structured review and revision process for work instructions, ensuring version control and traceability.
• Partner with quality to support root cause investigations where process deviation is identified as a contributing factor.
• Support internal and customer audits by ensuring documentation is current, accessible, and defensible.

What you need

• Mechanically minded.
• Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally rail, rolling stock, heavy industrial, or a similarly regulated sector- beneficial.
• Practical knowledge of special process qualification, particularly, painting, crimping, and torquing including relevant standards (AISO codes) where applicable.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies; Lean or Six Sigma exposure highly regarded
