Job summary

SPX Flow Technology Australia Pty Ltd – Brisbane QLD is seeking a service technician to troubleshoot, test and repair mixing equipment and related components. You will perform disassembly, inspection and assembly, document teardown reports and ensure repairs meet specifications.

Based in Brisbane, you will work with SAP and Microsoft Office, travel to customer sites as needed, and contribute to continuous improvement in serviceability and maintenance practices.

Qualifications

• Must be mechanically inclined and able to read maintenance manuals.
• Trade qualification or higher preferred.
• Experience with repair and maintenance of industrial gearboxes or rotating equipment preferred.
• Overhead crane and rigging experience preferred.
• Safety certifications are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, test and repair mixing equipment and components per quality procedures.
• Perform DCI (disassembly, clean and inspection) of customer equipment.
• Read assembly specs, blueprints and diagrams to determine disassembly/assembly requirements.
• Document disassembly with forms and photos to generate teardown reports.
• Ensure repaired products meet specs and perform diagnostic tests.
• Operate forklifts, cranes and related machinery.
• Assist with receiving, warehouse and shipping functions in the service center.
• Occasionally travel to customer sites for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Advise Product Management on enhancements for assembly and serviceability.
• Maintain safety policies, clean and orderly work area.
• Perform tasks in line with business guidelines and company duties.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshoot, test and repair mixing equipment and components according to established quality procedures in the service center or at customer sites.

Perform DCI (disassembly, clean and inspection) of customers equipment.

Read assembly specifications, such as charts, blueprints, schematic diagrams, and engineering specifications to determine requirements for correct disassembly/assembly.

Document disassembly of equipment via forms with pictures to generate a teardown report.

Ensure repaired products meet technical specifications and perform diagnostic tests to confirm proper functionality of repaired equipment.

Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other machinery.

Assist with receiving, inspection, warehouse, and shipping functions within the service center.

Occasionally travel to customer sites to assist with troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance.

Advise Product Management of product enhancement opportunities related to assembly and serviceability.

Maintain an unwavering commitment to safety policies and procedures.

Maintain work area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.

Perform all tasks in accordance with business conduct guidelines.

Other job tasks and duties as needed and assigned to support the business development and production goals of the company.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must be very mechanically inclined.

Must bring own set of hand tools. Specialty tools will be provided.

Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite & SAP preferred.

Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read and interpret maintenance and repair manuals and manufacturing drawings.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to follow processes and procedures.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Effective communication skills required to effectively interact with internal and external customers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Appropriate Trade Qualification (i.e. Fitter Machinist Apprenticeship) or higher is desirable.

A valid driver’s license is required.

Experience with repair and maintenance of industrial gearboxes or rotating equipment preferred.

Overhead crane and rigging experience preferred.

Safety certification(s) is an advantage.
