Job summary

Life Without Barriers is seeking a Senior Youth Worker in Mackay to deliver employment-focused case management for young people involved with Youth Justice or at risk of offending. The role operates under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) program, including Next Step Plus and Extended Post Care, and involves community-based, outreach work with weekday hours.

The position is a Full-Time Max Term Contract ending 12/11/27, based in the Mackay office, reporting to the Program Manager.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or similar.
• Experience supporting young people in employment, transition or post-care.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice.
• Ability to engage with young people with complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver strengths-based, trauma-informed case management.
• Develop and monitor individual participation and employment plans.
• Deliver job readiness and pre-employment activities.
• Coordinate training, work experience and employment opportunities.
• Provide mentoring and post-placement support to improve retention.
• Support young people to overcome barriers to participation and work.
• Build relationships with employers and community partners.
• Maintain accurate records and reporting for SQW contract requirements.
