Job summary

Findex is seeking a Workplace Relations Lead (ER and WHS) to join our national People team on an 18‑month max-term contract, with location flexibility across Australia (prefer Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane).

You will be the senior technical authority on employee relations, work health and safety, threat management and immigration advice for around 2,500 colleagues across Australia and New Zealand, guiding the firm from reactive to proactive risk management.

Qualifications

• Substantial senior experience in employee/industrial relations with strong knowledge of Australian employment law.
• Experience conducting and overseeing workplace investigations and matters before Fair Work Commission or NZ ERA.
• Ability to use data and trend analysis to prevent issues and inform leadership.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders while balancing legal/compliance with commercial needs.
• Experience leading a team and coaching others on complex matters.
• Desirable knowledge of NZ employment legislation, Australian WHS and psychosocial hazard management; exposure to visa/sponsorship frameworks or threat management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the highest-risk ER matters, including investigations, external claims, exits and settlements, representing Findex in proceedings.
• Provide risk-based advice on employment and industrial relations law to People Partners, leaders and Executives, including senior staff.
• Move from reactive to proactive by analyzing trends and data across cases, incidents, exits and engagement data; act early with leaders.
• Provide WHS and psychosocial safety leadership, oversee threat management and workplace risk governance.
• Lead M&A people due diligence, workforce change and post-deal integration; keep contracts, policies and awards current and defensible.
• Lead and coach the Workplace Relations team across Australia and New Zealand; manage relationships with external advisers, Legal, Risk and Compliance, Payroll and Finance.
