Job summary

CQUniversity is seeking a Senior Safety and Wellbeing Adviser in Rockhampton to provide expert safety, health and psychosocial guidance. You will support risk management, audits, incident investigations and safety training while enhancing the university’s safety culture across management, staff and students.

You will build relationships with internal stakeholders and external agencies, contribute to the Safety Management System, and assist with workers’ compensation and rehabilitation processes.

Qualifications

• Degree with at least four years’ subsequent relevant experience; or extensive safety-related experience; or an equivalent mix of education and training.
• Extensive expertise in risk management frameworks and practical implementation in high‑risk environments.
• High-level practical health, safety and psychosocial advice to promote a positive safety culture.
• Well-developed communication, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to interpret legislation and provide expert policy advice.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert safety, health and wellbeing advice to management, staff and students; support risk management, audits, inspections and investigations.
• Contribute to CQUniversity’s Safety Management System development and workers’ compensation guidance.
• Develop and deliver safety training; support business continuity and crisis management activities.
• Build strong internal and external relationships to influence safety outcomes and ensure compliance.
