Job summary

Ngaanyatjarra Council Group seeks a Senior Work Health and Safety Advisor – Essential Services to strengthen safety leadership and regulatory compliance across power, water and related services. You will guide risk management, drive improvements and embed proactive safety across metropolitan and remote operations.

Reporting to the Director of Safety, you will lead WHS programs, mentor teams and ensure proper incident investigations and corrective actions are completed.

Qualifications

• Senior WHS advisory or safety leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management processes.
• Experience in utilities, essential services, construction or similar complex environments.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical workplace controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead WHS programs, compliance and risk management across operations.
• Provide WHS advice to operational leaders and frontline teams.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments and safety observations.
• Promote proactive safety culture with coaching and safe systems of work.
• Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, standards and licence conditions.
• Develop and maintain WHS policies, risk frameworks and SMS documentation.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Support contractor safety management and prequalification processes.
• Review permits, SWMS and JHAs to ensure proper risk controls.
• Provide guidance to managers, employees and contractors on safety.
• Collaborate across essential services portfolio to drive improvements.
• Travel to remote communities and metropolitan worksites as required.
