Job summary

Northrop Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Senior Water and Sewer Engineer to lead project teams and own the technical delivery of civil water infrastructure across residential, commercial, and public works. You will manage projects from concept to construction with mentorship of graduates.

You’ll join a collaborative, employee-owned practice with offices in Sydney, Newcastle or Brisbane, offering hybrid working, flexible hours and generous development opportunities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience in water and sewer infrastructure design and project delivery.
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering.
• Proficient in industry software including 12d, WaterCAD, Mike +, SWMM.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic design principles, infrastructure servicing requirements and utility coordination.
• Demonstrated capability in undertaking and reviewing hydraulic assessments and modelling to inform engineering design and decision-making.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, authority requirements, engineering standards, design guidelines and quality management systems.
• Ability to review and verify technical designs and documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance and constructability.
• Strong team ethic to work collaboratively across functional groups.
• Familiar with financial management of projects internally is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical delivery of water supply and sewer infrastructure projects across residential, commercial, industrial and public developments.
• Work closely with a diverse client base, responding efficiently to client’s needs, including meetings and inspections.
• Assist with project costings, monitoring project performance and budget ensuring key dates are met and projects remain within budget.
• Provide mentorship to our graduates and undergraduates.
• Contribute to technical development across the structural section.
• Develop skills in business development including preparation of proposals.
