Job summary

GHD is seeking an experienced water resources professional in Australia to work across flood modelling, hydrology, hydraulic engineering, surface water and mine water management. The role involves contributing to major infrastructure and urban development projects, with strong emphasis on technical excellence and mentoring within a connected team.

Positions can be based at any GHD office in Australia, with flexibility for full-time or part-time arrangements and a hybrid work setup to balance

Qualifications

• Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5 to 15 years of relevant consulting, industry or client-side experience.
• Experience in flood modelling, hydrology, hydraulic engineering, surface water, mine water management, water balance modelling or water resources planning and assessment.
• Strong technical capability in TUFLOW and GoldSim.
• Experience delivering complex water resources projects across infrastructure, mining, energy, water, defence or urban development sectors.

Responsibilities

• Hydraulic, hydrologic and water balance models using tools such as TUFLOW and GoldSim.
• Delivering flood studies, floodplain risk management studies, flood impact assessments and development impact assessments.
• Conducting hydrologic and hydraulic assessments in accordance with Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) methodologies.
• Supporting mine water management studies, operational water assessments and strategic water planning projects.
• Analysing complex catchments, water systems and flood behaviours to support informed decision making.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across water resources, civil engineering, environmental services, mining, dams, tailings and planning.
• Managing projects, maintaining strong client relationships and engaging with key stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
• Contributing to proposals, business development activities and the continued growth of our water resources capability.
• Conducting technical reviews and mentoring emerging professionals across the team.
