Job summary

TÁVOLA is a renowned Italian restaurant in Bentleigh, Victoria, seeking a Senior Waiter / Assistant Manager for a permanent full-time role (38 hours per week). This hands-on position focuses on guest care, leadership by example, and delivering warm, professional hospitality.

You will work closely with the team to ensure outstanding service and a collaborative atmosphere. The role requires substantial frontline experience, strong wine knowledge, and a proactive, calm presence during busy periods.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a quality, full-service restaurant, ideally in a senior waiter or supervisory position.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build genuine relationships with guests.
• Strong wine knowledge and confidence in recommending wines.
• Hands-on leadership approach with the ability to guide colleagues.
• Availability to work a full-time roster including evenings and weekends.
• Excellent communication, reliability and attention to detail.
• Positive, down-to-earth attitude and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Delivering exceptional, genuine and attentive guest service.
• Confidently recommending wines and guiding guests through our food and beverage offering.
• Coordinating the floor and ensuring smooth, efficient service.
• Supporting and guiding colleagues while remaining actively involved in daily service.
• Taking initiative, resolving day-to-day challenges and maintaining high standards throughout the restaurant.
