Gordon Vet Hospital on Sydney's North Shore is seeking a dedicated veterinary nurse to join our busy team. You will assist in surgical procedures, maintain asepsis, support anaesthesia and patient care.

We value small animal nursing experience and teamwork, with opportunities to grow skills across surgery, anaesthesia and hospital nursing. Pay above the award and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or higher.
• Small animal veterinary nursing experience, preferably with advanced surgical experience.
• Confident and competent in surgical nursing and anaesthesia.

• Preparing patients for surgery and providing pre-operative care.
• Providing safe and effective anaesthetic monitoring.
• Managing patient recovery and post-operative care.
• Closely monitoring patients and recognising changes in their condition.
• Maintaining high standards of surgical asepsis and infection control.
• Cleaning, preparing and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment.
• Preparing surgical theatres and supporting efficient theatre workflow.

Key responsibilities

Preparing patients for surgery and providing appropriate pre-operative care

Providing safe and effective anaesthetic monitoring

Managing patient recovery and post-operative care

Closely monitoring patients and recognising changes in their condition

Maintaining high standards of surgical asepsis and infection control

Cleaning, preparing and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment

Preparing surgical theatres and supporting efficient theatre workflow

About you

Holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or higher

Small animal veterinary nursing experience, preferably with advanced surgical experience

Confident and competent in surgical nursing and anaesthesia

Genuine passion for patient care and animal welfare

Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and organisation

Can remain calm and effective in a busy hospital environment

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Motivated to learn and develop clinical skills
