Job summary

The Suncorp Group is seeking a role within the Vero SME portfolio to design and implement automated underwriting rules and controls using data, automation and external sources. You’ll collaborate across underwriting, governance, data and technology teams to improve risk assessment and decision-making.

With at least five years' experience in general insurance or related fields, you’ll translate business needs into scalable technology solutions, contribute to a connected data ecosystem, and help

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience across general insurance, financial services, technology, data, or digital delivery.
• Experience with system configuration, data integration, automation, or technology-enabled transformation.
• Underwriting platforms, business rules, integrations, and platform connectivity are understood.
• Strong data and automation skills for external data evaluation, API integration, and PoC delivery.
• Ability to translate business and underwriting challenges into practical technology and data solutions.

About The Role

This role plays a key part in the Vero SME portfolio by designing and implementing underwriting rules and controls using automation, system connectivity, and external data. You’ll explore new data sources and technology, test ideas through proofs of concept and turn valuable opportunities into scalable solutions. Working across underwriting, governance, data, and technology teams, you’ll help improve risk selection, platform controls, and underwriting decision-making, while supporting a more connected and automated environment. Help evolve underwriting through data, automation, and connected technology, while growing your expertise and improving how risk decisions are supported.

What You’ll Do

• Design and optimise automated underwriting rules and controls across the Vero SME platform.
