Job summary

ACCIONA in Australia is seeking an experienced Design Manager, Transmission to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of HV and MV transmission line and substation designs across critical infrastructure projects.

You will oversee design inputs from inception through delivery, drive technical governance and constructability, mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to strengthen Western Australia’s power grid on a high‑impact renewables program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years leading HV transmission (220kV+) design, concept to detail.
• 5+ years fieldwork supporting hands‑on engineering and site work.
• Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE and AS/NZS standards.
• Chartered status (RPEV, RPEQ, NER, CPEng) or working towards.
• Ability to complete a successful pre-employment medical and National Crime check.

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission line and substation design from concept to detail
• Manage design interfaces across HV and MV infrastructure
• Drive constructability, systems integration and technical governance
• Oversee cost, schedule, design change and risk using CPI, SPI and EVM
• Lead SiD, HAZID/HAZOP and CoM reviews and deliverables
• Mentor junior engineers and build internal design capability
• Manage external consultants and cross-functional communication
