Job summary

WGA (Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec) seeks a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Traffic and Waste team. You will deliver high-quality traffic and transport planning outcomes across sectors, mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with national teams.

Based in Melbourne, Geelong or Hobart, you will lead complex projects, prepare assessments and provide practical, commercially viable solutions for clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Transport/Traffic Engineering, Transport Planning, or similar.
• 6+ years’ experience in traffic engineering and/or transport planning with complex project delivery.
• Experience preparing and reviewing Traffic Impact Assessments and planning reports per Australian Standards.
• Ability to lead projects, manage deliverables and provide high-quality technical advice to clients.
• Strong client management and communication skills with ability to build relationships.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to business development.

About Our Role

Our Traffic and Waste team has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality outcomes across a diverse range of sectors and regions. Working closely with local project teams, the group plays a key role in supporting projects nationwide while maintaining a collaborative and close-knit culture. Due to continued growth and sustained project success, we are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our expanding team!

This role can be based in Melbourne, Geelong or Hobart.

Our project exposure ranges across local government to State, Federal and Private Civil infrastructure designs and we enjoy the capability to provide our Engineers and designers with a variety of different types of projects including Renewable Energy projects such as windfarms, Residential and Industrial Developments, Land use planning projects, Traffic Management Plans and Site Safety Audits.

About You

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Transport/Traffic Engineering, Transport Planning, or similar.
• 6+ years’ experience in traffic engineering and/or transport planning, with demonstrated experience delivering complex projects.
• Strong experience preparing and reviewing Traffic Impact Assessments, transport assessments and planning reports, with sound knowledge of Planning Schemes and Australian Standards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage deliverables and provide high-quality technical advice to clients and stakeholders
• Strong client management and communication skills, with the ability to develop relationships and identify practical, commercially viable solutions.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to business development, project opportunities and the continued growth of the team.
