Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior Telecoms Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of complex communications projects from Perth, Australia. The role involves IP network design, documentation, and testing, with leadership across engineering teams and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in Cisco routing, IP/MPLS, and telecoms infrastructure, and hold an engineering degree eligible for Engineers Australia membership.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree enabling full membership to Engineers Australia, including eligibility for RPEQ.
• Demonstrated experience in IP network design and implementation for complex telecommunications projects in critical infra (rail) environments.
• Strong capability in Design and Construct methodology, systems engineering concepts, configuration management, and site testing support.
• Proven experience with telecommunications core systems, network management systems, IP/MPLS, and related telecoms infrastructure.
• Ability to prepare high-quality design documentation, reports, test inputs, and engineering deliverables.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers to meet quality and schedule.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and delivery of communications projects including radio sites, IP nodes, fibre/copper transmission, and related infrastructure.
• Lead IP network design, design documentation, configuration development, integration planning, and testing activities to ensure project delivery.
