Job summary

Flinders University is seeking a Senior Technical Officer to support the College of Health and Enablement by coordinating day‑to‑day activities in the clinical skills and simulation laboratories. The role includes supervising staff, allocating workloads and ensuring safe, effective operations of simulation equipment for teaching.

You will contribute to a student‑centred learning environment, provide technical demonstrations, and support practical classes while working a roster of varied shifts.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Nursing or Midwifery or equivalent.
• Effective written communication skills.
• Excellent oral and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with clinical teaching and assessment setup.

Responsibilities

• Managing and leading a team of service‑oriented professionals, including planning and allocating staff resources, developing, coaching and mentoring employees and managing performance to deliver high‑quality services.
• Organise the reallocation of staff duties and workloads in the event of staff absence.
• Provide technical advice and assistance during practical classes including demonstration of simulation equipment, procedures and techniques as required and to ensure safe and effective operations.
• Assume the functional responsibilities of other Team Leaders and Senior Manager in their absence.
• Quality control of clinical laboratory setups with a student‑centred focus.
