Job summary

Gallagher is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Claims Lead - Liability to join our Brisbane team. You will lead complex claims, provide technical guidance to brokers and clients, and drive outcomes through expert advocacy and collaboration with insurers and loss adjusters.

You will mentor junior staff, influence at all levels, and contribute to claims initiatives while supporting both local and national teams.

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing complex commercial or corporate claims.
• Strong technical claims management and advocacy capabilities.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to navigate and resolve complex or contentious matters.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
• Sound understanding of insurance products and markets, ideally ISR.
• Coaching mindset and developing others.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Claims Lead - Liability to join our Claims team in Brisbane. This is a senior technical and client advocacy role where you will lead and support the management of complex claims, work closely with brokers and account management teams, and provide technical guidance across claims matters. The role supports both local and national claims teams and includes mentoring and developing team members

You will play a key role in delivering outstanding client outcomes, particularly on complex or contentious claims. Working closely with clients, insurers, loss adjusters, brokers and internal stakeholders, you will progress claims, interpret policy coverage, negotiate outcomes and help deliver a market leading claims experience

This role is ideal for a seasoned claims professional who enjoys solving complex problems, influencing outcomes and acting as a trusted adviser to clients and colleagues. You will also contribute to broader claims initiatives, support insurer performance discussions and help strengthen claims capability across the business

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the management and advocacy of complex claims matters across a corporate client portfolio
• Provide specialist claims advice to clients, brokers and claims colleagues
• Interpret policy wording and claim circumstances to maximise coverage outcomes for clients
• Liaise with clients, insurers and service providers to progress claims and resolve issues efficiently
• Support brokers by providing technical expertise during new business opportunities, renewals and client discussions
• Mentor and coach claims colleagues, sharing knowledge and supporting capability development
• Build strong relationships with branch leaders, brokers, insurers, loss adjusters and key stakeholders
• Contribute to claims working groups, insurer performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

You are a highly experienced insurance claims professional with strong technical capability and the confidence to influence outcomes across clients, brokers, insurers and internal stakeholders

• Significant experience managing complex commercial or corporate claims
• Strong technical claims management and advocacy capabilities, including preparing claims submissions
• Exceptional stakeholder management and negotiation skills
• Proven ability to navigate and resolve complex or contentious matters
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels
• Experience building effective working relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
• Sound understanding of insurance products and markets, ideally including ISR
• Insurance broking compliance knowledge, highly regarded
• A coaching mindset and genuine passion for developing others

You will ideally hold ANZIIF qualifications or equivalent industry credentials, with advanced qualifications viewed favourably.
