Job summary

Wood Accounting, based in Sutherland, NSW, is seeking a Senior Accountant/Client Manager to take ownership of a client portfolio and deliver personal, responsive service. The role offers hybrid work options and a path toward greater client contact and ownership.

The ideal candidate has Australian public-practice experience, can manage client relationships, and is proficient with Xero and Xero Tax, with CA/CPA/IPA qualifications preferred.

Qualifications

• Public-practice accounting experience in Australia.
• Ability to own client portfolios with limited supervision.
• Strong knowledge of Australian tax, GST and small-business compliance.
• Proficiency with Xero and Xero Tax; willingness to adopt AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of small-business and family-group clients.
• Prepare and review company, trust, partnership, and individual tax returns.
• Perform BAS, IAS, GST compliance and tax planning.
• Liaise with clients and the ATO; supervise junior staff.
• Provide advisory support and review workpapers for clients.
