Job summary

Hatch Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Tailings Engineer to join our Tailings and Mine Waste Management practice. You will lead multidisciplinary teams in the design, management, and delivery of integrated tailings, mine waste, and mine water solutions across the full project lifecycle, from early studies to closure planning.

You bring a degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with extensive tailings experience, strong leadership, and a client‑facing approach.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified Civil or Geotechnical Engineer.
• Extensive tailings management experience in mining.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineers, designers and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver tailings, mine waste, and mine water solutions.
• Lead studies: site selection, dewatering tech, subsurface investigations, material characterisation.
• Oversee transport, deposition, capping, and closure planning.
• Contribute to surface water design, dam break analyses, and flood routing assessments.
• Support project execution with material take-offs, scheduling, and cost estimation.
• Prepare and review technical reports, design basis memoranda, specs, and drawings.
• Provide senior technical oversight across tailings and mine waste projects.
• Support business development through proposals and client engagement.
