Job summary

Leidos Australia is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to contribute to the Gibbs & Cox Australia team, delivering systems engineering outcomes for defence programs.

You will review technical deliverables, manage requirements and changes, support verification and validation, and engage Commonwealth, Navy and industry stakeholders to influence outcomes in a complex defence environment. Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible for NV1 clearance.

Qualifications

• Strong systems engineering capability in complex defence programmes, demonstrated in maritime or naval projects.
• Experience in requirements management, engineering change management, or verification and validation (V&V).
• Good understanding of ship design, build and operations and their implications for engineering decisions.
• Strong technical judgement and communication skills to influence senior stakeholders.
• Ability to operate independently in a defence environment with limited guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering expertise and assurance by reviewing technical deliverables and advising on issues and solutions.
• Coordinate systems change across ship design, including technical data management until production.
• Support requirements, change management, and risk assessment across design and production.
• Assist design integration through verification and validation.
• Engage with Commonwealth, Navy and industry stakeholders to influence outcomes and decisions.
