Job summary

Boeing Defence Australia is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Battlespace Communications System program. You will lead verification and testing across hardware and software, develop essential system documentation, and coordinate interfaces within cost and schedule boundaries.

This role requires Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain a Defence security clearance. Based in Brisbane, you will work with electronics, mechanical, software, security, and publications teams to

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in complex technical development, integration, and verification projects.
• Tertiary qualification satisfying Engineers Australia (MIEAust) or equivalent in Systems Engineering.
• Australian citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain Defence security clearance.
• Experience developing and executing verification and test procedures and reports in lab and field environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and conduct verification and test activities across environmental, EMC/EMI, safety, human factors and operational demonstration testing.
• Act as test director for verification events at Boeing Test Facility and external test facilities.
• Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation (system specs, SDDs, ICDs, FMECA).
• Support Engineering Change Proposals and Software Regression Analysis Reports.
• Define and manage system interfaces and boundaries between various systems.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver scope within cost and schedule constraints and quality guidelines.

The OpportunityWe are seeking a talented Senior Systems Engineer to support the Battlespace Communications System (BCS) Program. The BCS program combines both developmental and off-the-shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability.This role will initially focus on the development of portable secure networking devices for military applications. You will apply your systems engineering skills to requirements, tests, verification, and technical documentation across a program that spans hardware, software, and multiple engineering disciplines.Our team has a unique culture, which prioritises innovation whilst maintaining flexibility and fun. You will find yourself working in an inclusive team, where people really matter.ResponsibilitiesPlan, coordinate and conduct verification and test activities (Verification Procedures, Result Reports, and Acceptance Test Reports), spanning environmental, EMC/EMI, safety, human factors, and operational demonstration testing.Act as test director for verification events at the Boeing Test Facility and external test facilities, and support lab and field demonstration events.Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation, including system specifications, System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, and Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA).Support the development of Engineering Change Proposals, Software Regression Analysis Reports, and other artefacts.Manage and define system interfaces and boundaries between various systems.Work with the project team to ensure the engineering scope is delivered within the cost and schedule constraints of the project, adhering to quality guidelines.Communicate and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team spanning electronics, mechanical, software, security, training, and technical publications.Experience/QualificationsEssential:Minimum of 5 years' experience in complex technical development, integration, and verification projects.Hold tertiary qualifications that satisfy the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust) or equivalent technical experience in a Systems Engineering discipline.Demonstrated experience developing and executing verification and test procedures and reports (e.g. Verification Procedures, Acceptance Test Reports) in laboratory and field environments.Australian citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence security clearance.Desirable:Demonstrated experience in systems and software development lifecycle.Experience with environmental and EMC/EMI test standards (e.g. MIL-STD, CISPR).Knowledge of human factors analysis (e.g. MIL-STD-1472).Experience with network and communications systems.Familiarity with engineering change and configuration management processes.Experience with Defence projects.Experience with Agile methodologies.About UsBoeing Defence Australia is shaping the future of aerospace and delivering some of the nation's most important programs for the Australian Defence Force.
