Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the systems engineering on a major Defence capability program, delivering technical leadership across the lifecycle and ensuring solutions align with operational requirements.

You will collaborate with Defence stakeholders, industry partners, and specialist teams to drive risk management, architecture governance, and project milestones, with opportunities for flexible leave and development.

Qualifications

• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience in systems engineering within complex Defence, government or large-scale technical programs.
• Experience supporting capability acquisition, integration or delivery projects.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, frameworks and best practice.
• Experience with requirements management, system design and verification activities.
• Ability to manage technical risks, dependencies and interfaces.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead technical workstreams and influence project outcomes.
• Experience preparing technical documentation and presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
• Current NV1 Security Clearance as a minimum.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
• Develop, manage and maintain system requirements and technical baselines.
• Coordinate engineering inputs from multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
• Conduct technical analysis, trade studies and solution assessments.
• Identify, manage and mitigate technical risks and issues.
• Support system architecture development and requirements traceability.
• Prepare engineering documentation, reports and technical briefs.
• Contribute to project reviews, governance activities and approval processes.
• Provide technical advice to project leadership and key stakeholders.
• Work closely with Defence, industry partners and subject matter experts to achieve project outcomes.
