Job summary

Whizdom in Brisbane Northside is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to lead a major virtualisation and infrastructure modernisation program, migrating hundreds of VMs from VMware ESXi to Hyper-V and supporting on‑premise and cloud environments. The role involves planning, testing and implementing complex migrations, plus administration of Windows Server environments and core backup/VMware platforms.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure or VM migration projects.
• Experience with Veeam Backup & Recovery solutions.
• Familiarity with ITSM platforms like ServiceNow.
• Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across operational teams, projects and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Leading the migration of approximately 400 virtual machines from VMware ESXi to Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Planning, testing, implementing and validating complex infrastructure changes and migrations.
• Administering and supporting enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Managing and maintaining VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V and Veeam Backup & Recovery platforms.
• Supporting infrastructure hosted across on-premises, Microsoft Azure and AWS environments.
• Investigating and resolving complex Level 3 infrastructure incidents and technical issues.
• Managing incidents, problems and changes through ServiceNow.
• Collaborating with stakeholders, project teams, application owners and vendors to ensure delivery outcomes.
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to teams.
• Contributing to high availability, disaster recovery, security, monitoring and backup strategies.
