Job summary

MuraConnect is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator on a 12-month contract to lead the end-to-end migration of roughly 400 virtual machines from VMware ESXi to Microsoft Hyper-V, while continuing to support enterprise Windows Server and virtualization environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.

Based on Brisbane's northside, you will plan, test, implement, and validate the migration, resolve complex Level 3 issues, and coordinate with stakeholders and vendors to ensure successful

MuraConnect is partnering with a large Queensland Government agency to identify a Senior Systems Administrator to support a major infrastructure migration program. This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension.

Based on the northside of Brisbane, this role sits within a large, complex enterprise ICT environment. The focus is the end-to-end migration of approximately 400 virtual machines from VMware ESXi to Microsoft Hyper-V, alongside ongoing support of enterprise Windows Server and virtualisation environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure.

The Role

As the Senior Systems Administrator you will be responsible for leading the migration program end-to-end — covering planning, testing, implementation, rollback preparation and post-migration validation — as well as resolving complex Level 3 issues and providing technical guidance across infrastructure, availability, backup and disaster recovery. Responsibilities include:

• Lead large-scale VMware ESXi to Microsoft Hyper-V migrations
• Administer and support enterprise Windows Server environments
• Manage Hyper-V, VMware ESXi and Veeam Backup & Recovery
• Support infrastructure across on-premises, AWS and Azure environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex Level 3 infrastructure incidents
• Manage incidents, problems, changes and implementations through ServiceNow
• Coordinate technical delivery with stakeholders, application teams and vendors
• Provide technical advice across virtualisation, backup, security, high availability and disaster recovery
• Mentor team members and contribute to improved operational practices

To be successful, you will be an experienced senior technical specialist with strong Windows Server, VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V and Veeam expertise, who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and delivering large-scale migrations.

You will bring:

• Strong senior-level Windows Server administration experience
• Hands-on experience with both VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V
• Strong Veeam Backup & Recovery experience
• Experience delivering large-scale VM or infrastructure migrations
• Strong troubleshooting skills across server, virtualisation and backup technologies
• Experience with ServiceNow or a similar ITSM platform
• Proven ability to work with technical teams, stakeholders and external vendors
• Strong communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in complex enterprise environments
