Job summary

Vipac Engineers & Scientists is looking for a systems specialist to join the Melbourne-based team. You’ll work with a mainly Microsoft environment, administering Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy, with Linux tasks as needed.

The role involves on-premises servers, backups, patching and IT infrastructure planning. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in systems administration, strong AD/Windows skills, and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years in a systems or senior systems administration role.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Solid knowledge of Group Policy and its security and deployment implications.
• Experience managing physical and/or virtual servers.
• Working knowledge of Linux administration.
• Broad general system administration skills across networking, backups, security and endpoint management.
• Proactive, methodical approach and ability to explain technical issues to non‑technical colleagues.

You'll work alongside the existing systems team to keep people connected, secure and productive, and help improve how things run across the business. You'll take a key role in supporting the predominantly Microsoft environment.

Key responsibilities

About you

5 to 7 years' experience in a systems or senior systems administration role

Relevant certifications (e.g. Microsoft 365, MCSA/MCSE, or Linux) are an advantage, not a requirement
