Job summary

GEM Switchboards is seeking a Senior Switchboard Designer to lead design efforts for complex projects. The role focuses on delivering accurate, compliant, production-ready switchboard designs and overseeing design reviews with production teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong AS 3000/AS 61439 knowledge, AutoCAD LT proficiency, and experience with Galaxy/TM Designer, enabling independent ownership of multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Extensive switchboard design experience with production-ready drawings.
• Knowledge of AS 3000, AS 61439 and Service and Installation Rules.
• AutoCAD LT proficiency and experience with Galaxy and TM Designer.
• Excellent planning, organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Electrical Engineering qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete or oversee the design of switchboards for assigned projects.
• Review scopes, drawings and technical documentation.
• Ensure designs meet Australian Standards, specifications and GEM requirements.
• Resolve technical queries and design issues.
• Prepare designs and documentation ready for production.
• Coordinate with Production to ensure clear drawings and build instructions.
• Provide material lists and technical information to Procurement.
• Provide Project Managers with design timelines and milestones.
• Identify design risks, long-lead items and technical constraints.
• Participate in internal project meetings and design reviews.
• Support quality checks, inspections and FAT processes.
• Maintain accurate drawings, revisions and technical documentation.
• Contribute to improvements in design standards and templates.
